TORONTO - Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Jonas Gustavsson will undergo his second heart procedure in less than three months, the team announced Thursday.

Gustavsson met with a cardiac specialist after being taken to hospital with an elevated heart rate following the first period of Toronto's 3-0 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night.

The Swedish rookie will undergo a heart ablation on Friday. The procedure is designed to correct abnormal heart rhythms by destroying damaged tissue.

Gustavsson, 25, first underwent the procedure during training camp following a similar incident.

The Leafs also announced that rookie Carl Gunnarsson would miss the next six weeks with a hyperextended elbow suffered in Monday's loss to the Buffalo Sabres.
