HAMILTON - Jury selection begins today in Hamilton in the trial of an HIV-positive man charged with murder in the deaths of two sex partners.
Johnson Aziga, 52, is charged in the deaths of two women who died of AIDS-related complications after allegedly having unprotected sex with him.
He also faces 13 counts of aggravated sexual assault for allegedly failing to tell his sexual partners of his HIV status.
Aziga is believed to be the first person in Canada to be charged with murder in an HIV-infection case.
The trial has been delayed many times, due largely to adjournments sought by the defence and Aziga's firing of three legal teams.
August 30th marked his fifth year in custody awaiting trial.
