TORONTO - The Toronto Blue Jays signed left-hander Darren Oliver to a one-year, US$4-million contract Monday with a club option for 2013.
The option is worth $3 million.
The 41-year-old Oliver spent the last two seasons with the Texas Rangers, posting a 5-5 record with two saves and a 2.29 ERA over 51 innings last year. Oliver has played for eight teams over his career, including three separate occasions with Texas.
He has appeared 654 career games, including 229 starts. The 18-year veteran has posted a 112-90 record and 4.60 ERA.
To make room on the 40-man roster, Toronto designated infielder Mark Teahen for assignment.
