TORONTO - Federal political aspirations have caused some turnover in Premier McGuinty's cabinet.
Peter Fonseca has been replaced as labour minister after the Mississauga M-P-P indicated he was considering seeking a federal seat.
Fonseca surprised the media yesterday by saying he had not told McGuinty he was thinking of running federally.
McGuinty then issued a terse statement saying he had appointed Mississauga South MPP Charles Sousa to take over as labour minister.
Sources say Fonseca and McGuinty met yesterday where Fonseca at first played coy about his federal aspirations.
But one source says he offered his resignation and McGuinty accepted it.
It wasn't clear whether it was McGuinty or Fonseca who requested the meeting.
The source says McGuinty was aware the federal Liberals were interested in Fonseca.
