COBOCONK, Ont. - A father and son from Little Britain, Ont., are facing charges after allegedly assaulting an Asian fisherman in Coboconk.

It's the latest in a spate of similar attacks on Asian-Canadian anglers in small towns across the province.

The incident occurred on Sept. 30 when three men, one posing as a Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officer, approached two fishermen on a dock and assaulted one of them.

Walter Marinzel, 57, is charged with assault and uttering threats, while his son Matthew Marinzel, 19, is charged with personating a peace officer.

York Region police were already investigating several incidents in which Asian-Canadian fishermen were attacked and pushed into the water in the Town of Georgina on Lake Simcoe.

In the town of Westport on Big Rideau Lake in eastern Ontario, police are investigating at least two recent incidents in which locals have allegedly attacked Asian-Canadian anglers.
