A young driver police attempted to pull over in Toronto's west end rammed into an officer's cruiser then fled on foot Sunday.
Police said a female officer was shaken but not hurt after her cruiser was rammed by a Black Acura during the pursuit just before noon.
The constable spotted a licence plate violation and chased the car until they hit Gotham court, a dead-end near Keele and Eglinton.
Police and witnesses said the car she was trying to stop ploughed into a flower garden, then made a u-turn on the lawn and then drove his vehicle right into the police car.
The officer told CTV's Jim Junkin she tried to veer out of the way when the car was driving toward her, but the driver still managed to strike the side of it.
The car's tire tracks were visible on the lawn after the incident. Residents said the male driver was speeding down the residential street with no regard for anyone's safety.
"I just saw him come around the bend, squealing tires," said Fabio Recine, a witness.
"He was running so fast, and then the police go up to the car," said another woman.
Raffaele Moscatiello said the officer pulled out her weapon after her car was hit.
"I heard sirens up the street, and I saw the thing unfold in front of me. I saw the cop actually draw out her gun."
The driver remained at large Sunday night. Police are looking for a male between the ages of 16 and 20.
