A stretch of road in north Toronto remains closed Tuesday morning after a construction crane toppled onto the street.
The incident occurred Monday afternoon, when the crane tipped at 2233 Kipling Ave., near Elmhurst Drive, knocking down hydro wires onto the street below.
Some of the wires fell on top of a TTC bus, trapping passengers inside. The massive crane remains overturned Tuesday morning.
Passengers were trapped on the bus for about an hour on Monday but were eventually removed without injury.
The incident also left 400 residents in the area without power through the evening. Toronto Hydro said about 50 customers remained without power into the morning but have since been reconnected.
Kipling Avenue remains closed between Brookmere Road and Rexdale Boulevard as crews clear the crane and downed power lines from the scene.
The Ministry of Labour has been called to investigate the cause of the crash.
