A 23-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault after a stabbing inside a grocery store in Brampton.
Peel Regional Police said the suspect entered the No Frills on Clementine Drive, near Steeles Avenue West and Mavis Road, at about 8:30 a.m. on Monday.
The man asked to speak with an employee about a job opportunity. When a 33-year-old employee approached, the suspect stabbed him, police said.
The man then fled the store, but was apprehended by officers a short distance later.
The victim was taken to hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
Police wouldn't comment on the motive in the stabbing, saying it was still under investigation.
Mahmood Bayet of Brampton is charged with aggravated assault. He appeared in court on Monday and was held pending a bail hearing.
