WINDSOR, Ont. - The father of 15-month-old baby Joseph Maraachli says he is doing well after returning to Windsor, Ont., last week from a St. Louis hospital.
Joseph had a tracheotomy at the U.S. hospital after doctors in London, Ont., would not perform the procedure.
The baby suffers from a fatal, progressive neurological disease and had been in hospital since October.
His father, Moe Maraachli, says the excitement over the return home felt like bringing home a newborn.
Maraachli says a nurse from the community care access centre visits the home every night to check on Joseph.
The St. Louis hospital says the tracheotomy was a success and Joseph was doing well enough to go home.
