Arland Bruce's days with the Toronto Argonauts may be over.

The CFL team, which plays in Winnipeg on Friday, left its leading receiver at home saying he was being disciplined for being unprofessional.

"It's really not so much about Arland Bruce, it's about any player that doesn't want to do the things that we're asking him to do as professional football players," head coach Bart Andrus told The Fan 590 radio station on Thursday morning.

"Just like in any other job, your employer asks you to do certain things and if you don't do it, then there needs to be some kind of disciplinary action and that's kind of where we're at right now with Arland."

Andrus did not detail Bruce's transgressions other to say he had been fined recently.

The Globe and Mail reported the six-year veteran receiver has been fined four times this season, for several incidents including failing to attend two special teams meetings, being late to an offensive meeting, playing his music too loud in the locker-room and leaving his playbook on a plane after a flight to Calgary.

"It just compounded and compounded and we decided to take one step further and go with a game suspension," Andrus said.

Bruce, who was also fined by the league for his Michael Jackson tribute celebration, told the Globe that Andrus was "trying to make an example out of me but he can take that back to NFL Europe or wherever he was coming from."

Andrus said he had handled the situation as he would with any player, adding he had hoped the matter could have stayed private.

"It looks like he wants to move on and I don't think that he can probably do what we want him to do as a professional," he told the radio station. "I don't think that he'll find it any easier any other place."

Bruce has 14 receptions for 199 yards and one TD this season.

"He has not been a good teammate. He has not been a good team player," said Andrus. "He needs to take a good look at himself and see if he's going to be able to function in pro football."

The Argos are already hurting, with injuries decimating their receiving ranks. Slotbacks Tyler Scott (concussion) and Andre Talbot (ankle sprain) are both out.

On Thursday the Argos added import wide receiver Cory Rodgers to the team's practice roster and Canadian lineman Tang Bacheyie to the active roster.

Rodgers played in 21 games with the Lions in 2007 where he caught 35 passes for 462 yards and five touchdowns. He was taken in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers.

Bacheyie, of Windsor, Ont., played four seasons at the University of Kansas. Bacheyie attended this year's training camp with the Lions before bein added to the team's practice roster to start the season.

Hank Edwards and Brad Smith have also been activated.
