There have been more than 100 shootings involving injuries or deaths in Toronto, 64 per cent more than there had been at this time last year.
Toronto police data updated Monday said there have been 103 shootings resulting in death or injury this year. Of the 103 victims, 15 were killed and 88 were injured.
There were 63 incidents by Aug. 10, 2014, with 13 people dead and 50 injured.
The number of shooting occurrences, or times when someone was shot or shot at, is also much higher this year than in 2014.
Police said the number of victims who were shot or shot at in 2015 is up 37 per cent, from 112 occurrences last year to 153 so far in 2015.
The number of victims is 81 per cent higher this year than last. In 2015, there have been 254 victims of shootings. By this time in 2014, there had been only 140.
There have been 15 fatal shooting homicides, compared to 13 at this time last year.
The overall number of homicides is up 23 per cent over last year, with 32 people killed as of Aug. 10. Last year, 26 people had been killed by August.
Police statistics show that fatal stabbings are also on the rise in 2015 with the highest number reported in the last four years. There have been 11 fatal stabbings in 2015, compared to six at this time last year, eight in 2013 and three in 2012.
Toronto police have released a map showing where the 2015 shootings have occurred. Each red dot indicates an incident.
