Toronto police say a woman in her 80s has died in hospital after firefighters rescued her from a burning house near O’Connor Drive and St. Clair Avenue on Friday morning.
After the woman was pulled from the home, paramedics attempted to revive her at the scene and as she was rushed to hospital.
A firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze, which occurred on Alder Road at about 7 a.m.
A Toronto Fire Services spokesperson said emergency crews responded when they received a report of a fire at the back of the house.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
