Toronto transit users are once again able to use the city's streetcar and subway network, after an hours-long outage caused by a fire.
A hydro vault fire knocked out power to part of the Toronto Transit Commission's streetcar and subway network early Tuesday morning.
The fire, near Richmond and Yonge Streets, has since been extinguished and crews are working to restore power.
TTC crews have been able to repair the cables affecting the city's streetcars, and the organization said service resumed shortly before 10:30 a.m.
Approximately 15 minutes later, the TTC announced that subway service had also been restored.
For several hours, power issues plagued the TTC's 501 Queen, 504 King, 505 Dundas, 509 Harbourfront and 510 Spadina streetcar lines.
There was no service on Line 1 (Yonge-University-Spadina) between Bloor and Osgoode Stations from the beginning of the day until 10:45 a.m.
During the outage, more than 130 shuttle buses were ordered to transport passengers who would normally rely on the trains, TTC spokesperson Brad Ross said.
While service was out customers were permitted to use GO Transit and the Union-Pearson Express train for the cost of a TTC fare.
