MARKHAM, Ont. - Police say they have spoken with a man who interacted with a Markham, Ont., woman the night she went missing a week ago.

York Regional Police say the man came forward Monday night, hours after investigators released security footage that showed him speaking to Taneesha Brown outside Bur Oak Secondary School on Jan. 12.

Const. Andy Pattenden says the man's encounter with Brown "provided no clues on her whereabouts."

Brown told relatives she was going outside for fresh air around 10:30 p.m. that night and never returned.

The video shows her outside the school almost 20 minutes later.

Police say that after seeing the direction in which she was heading, they will be searching partially frozen ponds west of the school using a remotely operated vehicle.
