Police are searching for a 25-year-old woman who was last seen in Markham on Tuesday night.

York Regional Police said Taneesha Brown was last seen in the area of McCowan Road and Castlemore Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Brown had told her family she was "going outside for some fresh air" and never returned home, officers said in a statement Thursday.

The statement said the family has no information on her possible whereabouts, and is concerned for her wellbeing.

"She is believed to be not suitably dressed for the weather," the statement said. She had no money and no cellphone with her at the time, police said.

Brown has been described as black and 5-foot-5. She weighs approximately 122 pounds, and has black, shoulder-length hair with pink highlights.

Officers said she was last seen wearing traditional Muslim clothing including a white, knee-length dashiki, white pants and a white hijab.
