Toronto police have charged three people in connection with a human trafficking and juvenile prostitution investigation.

According to police, a 17-year-old girl was assaulted, threatened and forced into prostitution. The teen was transported to a number of hotels, between Mississauga and Scarborough, where she was held against her will and "constantly" guarded, police said.

"(The teen) was also relieved of personal belongings, including her money and cell phone," police said in a statement on Monday.

The investigation was launched on March 28.

Michael Campbell, 30, Timothy Hewton, 23, and Serena Timbury Welcome, 20, face numerous charges, including trafficking in persons and living on the avails of prostitution.

They were scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Toronto police believe there may have been more victims.
