Ontario Provincial Police in Peterborough, Ont., are asking hunters in the area of assistance in locating a missing woman.

Lorraine Roach, 58, disappeared from Selwyn Township on the afternoon of May 11, 2013. She was last seen leaving her home on Hilliard Street.

In a statement released Monday, OPP investigators said hunters may be likeliest to find evidence and provide relevant information in the case because they are “often most familiar with the local topography.”

“Investigators are interested in anything that has obviously changed in the overall landscape since previous hunting seasons,” the release said. OPP are also encouraging hunters to report “suspicious items that appear to be out of place in the natural environment,” but are warming that such items shouldn’t be touched or moved by anyone other than police.

Anyone with information about the case can call OPP investigators at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
