Two people who went missing last week after their canoes capsized in Algonquin Provincial Park are from the Greater Toronto Area, the OPP said.

Police said they are searching for 19-year-old Tim Kolder, of Mississauga, and 21-year-old Jeremy Marrows, of Georgetown.

The two went missing last Thursday evening when their canoes capsized at Opeongo Lake, the largest lake in Algonquin. It is located near the centre of the park, north of Highway 60.

A search for the missing canoeists was launched Friday, the Ontario Provincial Police's Killaloe Detachement said in a statement. Members of the OPP's emergency response team, marine units, aviation units and underwater search and recovery unit are aiding with the search.
