A 12-year-old boy remains in hospital in serious condition after being struck by a vehicle in Willowdale Friday afternoon.

The vehicle fled the scene and police are now on the hunt for the driver.

The teen was struck while walking with two other people on Pemberton Avenue, near Willowdale Avenue, shortly before 4 p.m.

He was rushed hospital with serious head injuries.

“He’s going to be in hospital for a little bit, but should pull through OK,” Toronto police Sgt. Lawrence Zimmerman told CP24 at the scene Friday evening.

Police are looking for a navy blue sport utility vehicle, last seen travelling south on Willowdale Avenue, which might have front-end damage as a result of the incident.

A vehicle matching the description was captured on video by a police cruiser responding to the incident.

“That video has now been downloaded, and our detectives are taking a look at it,” Zimmerman said.

Zimmerman urged the driver of the vehicle to contact police and turn themselves in.

“It’s only a matter of time (before) we’re going to come knocking on your door,” he said.
