York University students are urging school administrators to consider a security overhaul after reports of a third sex assault on campus.

A 20-year-old girl told police she was attacked in a stairwell Friday night at Founders College in the Keele Street and Steeles Avenue area around 8:30 p.m.

Police are looking for one suspect.

On Tuesday, flyers were posted around the campus and emails were sent making students aware of the assault and reminding women to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings.

"It's scary, it's really scary," one student told CTV Toronto Tuesday night. "I consider Founders my home."

The attack comes about four months after two 19-year-old students were assaulted in their rooms while they slept, just steps away from Founders College. Two suspects have been arrested in that case.

York's student unions say enough is enough. They are calling for a campus security audit.

"It is clear from this incident that the York administration needs to do more to address the systemic issues of sexual assault and violence on this campus," Gilary Massa, vice-president equity of the York Federation of Students, said in a news release.

The unions are asking school officials to consider using an organization called METRAC.

According to the organization's website, METRAC acts as an advocate and educator when it comes to violence against women and children. The group also lobbies for policy changes and improvements to social services.

"If this university is committed to ensuring student safety it is imperative that they take advantage of the services of a professional organization such as METRAC, that has been conducting community safety audits in Ontario for the past 25 years," said Massa. "Students on this campus cannot afford to have the York Administration drag its feet on this issue any longer."

After the sex attacks in the beginning of the school year, York beefed up their security by hiring more guards, according to the Toronto Star.

Alex Bilyk, a spokesperson for York University, said the sex assault suspect could have possibly followed a student inside Founders which is usually kept locked.

"People come in with a pass key and if they bring someone in they sign them in," he told CTV Toronto. "However, there are incidences where they can tailgate others and I'm not saying this is how it happened, but people can tailgate others."
