Two teens have been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting in Brampton earlier this week that landed one man in hospital and hundreds of students in lockdown.

The suspects, ages 19 and 16, were arrested on Tuesday. Police say they are withholding the identity of both suspects because they don't want to release information that could identify the young offender.

An 18-year-old man was shot in the leg Monday at around 2 p.m. behind the Cassie Campbell Community Centre on Sandalwood Parkway in Brampton.

His injury was not serious and has since been released from hospital.

Several schools in the area were put under a lockdown for several hours while police searched the neighbourhood for the suspects. The students were not allowed to leave school until after 5 p.m.

The suspects have been charged with several firearm-related offences. They are scheduled to appear in court sometime Wednesday afternoon.
