A Toronto man has been arrested in connection with an assault at a service centre on Highway 401 about 25 kilometres west of Kingston, Ont.
Provincial police say a man and woman pulled into the station early Tuesday morning and got into an argument at the gas pumps.
Witnesses called 911 after the dispute escalated, with the man assaulting the woman and hitting the windshield of the car with pop cans, breaking it.
Police found the male suspect alone in the parking lot with his belongings after the woman fled westbound on the 401 with the car. She was stopped a few minutes later in Napanee.
A 27-year-old man, whose name wasn't released, was charged with domestic mischief, assault and two counts of breach of probation.
He was held in custody for a bail hearing in Napanee provincial court Thursday.
