Three Blue Jays to leave team; roster at 34

TORONTO - The Toronto Blue Jays awarded third baseman Edwin Encarnacion to the Oakland Athletics on a waiver claim Friday.

Encarnacion hit .244 last season with 21 homers and 51 RBIs in 96 games.

The Jays also outrighted left-hander Brian Tallet and outfielder Dewayne Wise to triple-A Las Vegas, but both players declined the assignment and will try free agency.

Toronto also reinstated left-hander Rommie Lewis and right-handers Jesse Litsch and Dustin McGowan from the 60-day disabled list.

That gives the Blue Jays 34 players on their 40-man roster.
