A third suspect has been charged in connection with a recent shooting incident at an Oshawa residence.

Durham Regional Police say they were called to a home on Merritt Street in Oshawa around 2:40 a.m. on March 19, after receiving a call that a man had been shot.

The victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was taken to a local hospital, and then transferred to a Toronto-area hospital for surgery. Police say he is now recovering from his wounds.

A witness told police that the male answered the door and was shot by an unknown person. Investigators said they did not believe the shooting was a random act.

On Friday, police said they had charged a third suspect -- the second from Scarborough --in connection with the incident.

Michael McIntosh, 21, of Scarborough, has been charged with a single count of aggravated assault and a single count of use of firearm during the commission of an offence. He was held for a bail hearing.

Previously, police laid charges against two individuals in connection with the shooting.

The day after the shooting, Dario Dilber, a 19-year-old man of no fixed address, was charged with aggravated assault and released from custody.

On Tuesday, police said a second man had been taken into custody on the weekend and charged in connection with the shooting incident.

Aaron Deniese, 18, also of Scarborough, as been charged with aggravated assault, use of a firearm during commission of an offence and fail to comply with probation. He was released on a promise to appear after being charged.

Police say no further arrests are expected in the investigation.
