Toronto FC captain Dwayne De Rosario will not be extending his stay with the Scottish Premier League team he's been training with since December, the club announced Friday.

Reported to be unhappy with his TFC contract, De Rosario's future with the club has been the subject of debate and conflicting reports since he began his training stint with Celtic.

To pour water on the speculation, TFC coach Aron Winter told the team's website that De Rosario, a Scarborough native, is still expected to return to Toronto for the start of training to prepare for the upcoming Major League Soccer season.

"Celtic inquired about the possibility of extending Dwayne's time with them. My preference is for Dwayne to start the season with Toronto FC right from training camp," said Aron, according to TorontoFC.ca. "We are making a fresh start and need a strong competitive camp. Dwayne is the captain and leader and needs to be part of building a new winning culture."

Winter made the comments in Baltimore, where he was attending the MLS SuperDraft.
