Police are seeking assistance after a television cameraman was struck near the scene of a police investigation late Tuesday night.

The cameraman,who works for a local station, was crossing Kipling Avenue, near Albion Road, on his way to the scene of a police investigation when he was struck, shortly after 9:45 p.m.

Bill Atanasoff, 58, a cameraman with Citytv, was crossing the street to get to a highrise apartment, where a man had fallen from a fifth floor balcony while attempting to evade police.

Officers from Ontario's Special Investigation Unit were on the scene.

Atanasoff was crossing mid-block and was halfway across when he was struck by a Lincoln Continental.

He suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital. He remains in intensive care.

The windshield was cracked on the right side of the car and the front bumper was dented.

The driver, a 68-year-old man, was arrested at the scene but later released.
