The longtime chair of discipline at the Ontario College of Teachers has resigned on Wednesday after a published report brought to attention a novel he wrote about teen sex.

The book "Sexteens and the Fake Goddess," written by Jacques Tremblay, features a "soft porn" story about teens facing "confrontations and conflictual relationships with adults in position of authority."

The 348-page book was published in 2008 but came to light after the report highlighted the fact that Tremblay's book features numerous sexual references.

According to the book's website the novel is "for teens and adults" and is "the first book of a series that truly reflects the life of today's teen."

In a statement from the Ontario College of Teachers, Tremblay chose to resign from his post "out of concern that the public perception of matters raised today in the media could lead to an erosion of the public's confidence in the College and its work."

"The College makes every effort to maintain public confidence in the teaching profession's self-regulatory processes."

Tremblay has said that his work as an author and his work in education "are entirely separate."

He said he has also co-authored books about a variety of topics, including economics, organic wine and children's books.
