Police in Toronto's east end say they are looking for a couple of suspects who tried to break into a bank by going through the roof.
Investigators were alerted to suspicious activity at a Scotiabank branch at St. Clair Avenue and O'Connor Drive on Monday morning. They found tools on the roof of the bank used to cut through the roof to get to the bank machine inside.
Police believe tools found inside were used to pry open the machine.
Emergency Task Force officers who had assembled outside with their weapons drawn made their way into the bank but the suspects were gone.
Police say something interrupted the suspected robbers and they fled the scene on foot, possibly using the ravine behind the bank as an escape route.
Authorities believe at least two people were involved in the attempted bank robbery.
