TORONTO - School boards have cancelled buses in part of northern Ontario because of snow and freezing rain.

It's a snow day for students whose buses have been cancelled from Hearst through to Temagami.

Environment Canada is forecasting an extended period of snowfall over regions to the west and northwest of Lake Superior today and tonight.

Freezing rain has taken school buses off the roads in East Parry Sound, Mattawa, North Bay, West Nipissing, East Ferris, Callander and Bonfield, Highway 11 north and Highway 63.

Motorists are advised to driver for the conditions.
