Toronto Police will be enforcing rolling road closures ahead of the annual Pride Week parades.

On Friday, the Trans* Pride March will start at the WorldPride Festival Streetfair North Stage, at Church Street and Isabella Street, and will conclude at Yonge-Dundas Square.

Rolling road closures will take place along the route from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Affected streets include:

  • Church Street: northbound to Isabella Street towards Bloor Street East
  • Bloor Street East: westbound in the eastbound lanes, Church Street to Yonge Street
  • Yonge Street: southbound in the northbound lanes Bloor Street to Dundas Street
  • Dundas Street East: between Yonge Street and Victoria Street (full road)
  • Police say motorists should expect delays along the route in the downtown core.

On Saturday, the annual Dyke March starts at Allen Gardens and follows a path west on Carlton, north up Yonge Street and east on Charles Street East, ending at George Hilsop Parkette. The parade starts at 2 p.m. and is expected to last about two hours.

The annual Pride Parade starts Sunday at 1 p.m. Those marching in the parade will start at Bloor Street East and Church Street, heading west to Yonge Street. Marchers will go south on Yonge down to  Yonge-Dundas Square, where the parade ends. The procession and subsequent cleanup may take several hours. Toronto police expect the roads to be open by 12 a.m. Monday.

The following road closures will begin at 12 p.m.:

  • Yonge Street will be closed from Gerrard Street to Queen Street.
  • Dundas Street will be closed from Bay Street to Church Street.
  • Victoria Street will be closed from Dundas Street to Shuter Street.

 

Gardiner Expressway closures

Until Monday, July 21, eastbound and westbound left lanes will be occupied by median reconstruction crews from Ellis Avenue to Dufferin Street every day from midnight to noon.

Eastbound and westbound shoulder lanes will be occupied by long-term construction on the centre median from Park Lawn Road to Humber River, every day until Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The off-ramp from the espressway to Sherbourne will be closed for concrete removal, every day 11:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. until Friday, June 27.

 

Lake Shore Boulevard closures

The westbound passing lane will be occupied from Rees Street to Van De Water Crescent by tunnel construction from 9 a.m. to midnight every day until the end of February 2015.

Westbound and eastbound, Lake Shore will be down to one lane at a time between Yonge St. and Windermere Ave. 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily until Tuesday, July 15.

Until Sunday, Aug. 31, one lane eastbound and one lane westbound will be occupied due to TTC Leslie Street Connection Track Project, 24 hours a day.

Two lanes each eastbound and westbound will be occupied due to overhead Gardiner repairs from 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. every day until Friday, June 27.

Westbound lanes from Park Lawn Road to Humber River will be occupied by construction 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Wednesday, July 30.

 

TTC closures and diversions:

There will be no subway service between Wilson and Downsview stations between June 28 and 29 due to track installation. Shuttle buses will provide frequent service. Additional service will run to Eglinton West Station for customers who require an accessible subway station.

TTC bus services on 5 Avenue Road will turn back north at St George Station, diverting via Bloor Street West and Bedford Road, on Saturday due the Pride Remembrance Walk. The diversion is expected to remain in place from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Carlton Street will be closed from Yonge Street to Sherbourne Street on Saturday for World Pride festivities. All 506 Carlton streetcars will divert in both directions via College Street, Bay Street, Dundas Street, Parliament Street and Gerrard Street. The diversion is expected to remain until 4 p.m.

Dundas Street will be closed from Yonge Street to Jarvis Street on Sunday for the World Pride Parade. All 505 Dundas streetcars will divert in both directions via Dundas Street, Bay Street, College Street, Carlton Street, Parliament Street, Gerrard Street and Broadview Avenue. After 7:00 pm, 505 Dundas replacement buses will run between Jarvis and Broadview.

The 94 Wellesley route will operate in two sections during the parade on Sunday:

  • West of Yonge, buses will provide service between Ossington Station and St George Station, operating in both directions via Ossington, Harbord, Hoskin, Queen's Park, Bloor and Bedford.
  • East of Yonge buses will provide service between Wellesley & Jarvis and Castle Frank Station looping in one direction via south on Parliament, west on Carlton, north on Jarvis and east on Wellesley.
