Another weekend brings another round of road closures across Toronto, due to a combination of construction activities and local events. Before you hit the road, check our roundup of what's affected.

Major Roadway Closures

  • The northbound left lane of W.R. Allen Roadway at Highway 401 is closed from May 5 to May 16 due to road reconstruction.
  • Two eastbound lanes are closed from Jarvis Street to the Don Roadway on Lake Shore Boulevard until May 30 due to repairs on the Gardiner Expressway.

Subway Closures

  • The Bloor-Danforth line will be shut down between Woodbine and Kennedy stations for rail installation May 10 and 11.

Event Closures on Sunday May 11

  • The Sporting Life 10K run for Camp Oochigeas starts at 8 a.m., and will involve a number of road closures from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • The full road on Yonge Street from Lawrence to the north side of Eglinton Avenue, from Yonge Street to Richmond Street West, from Richmond Street West to Peter Street, and from Peter Street on to Blue Jays Way and Front Street West will be closed from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Half the road from Front Street West to the north side of Spadina Avenue will be closed, followed by the full road from Front Street West to Bathurst Street, Bathurst Street to Fort York Boulevard in addition to three westbound traffic lanes will be shut down on Fort York Boulevard from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. as well.
  • Further closures will remain until 1 p.m.: the full road on Bathurst Street from the north side of Front Street west to the north side of Sloping Sky Mews, and the full road on Fleet Street from Strachan Avenue to Fort York Boulevard.

Other ongoing closures

  • Two major intersections on Queen Street East are also closed, resulting in streetcar diversions.
  • The intersection of Queen and Leslie is closed from May 11 to June 21 to all traffic due to the installment of new tracks.
  • The intersection of Queen and Victoria is closed from May 12 to May 31 to replace tracks and switches.
  • These closures are estimated to increase commute times by 12 minutes. Additional buses will operate on Greenwood, Jones and Pape avenues to help TTC users access the Bloor-Danforth subway line, and the 301 streetcar will be diverted between Broadview and Coxwell avenues.
