TORONTO - A Richmond Hill woman is the latest Ontario resident to strike it rich after winning Saturday's $9.6 million Lotto 6-49 jackpot.

Mitra Ameri-Haydari, 42, played the same numbers for 18 years.

She checked the ticket on the weekend at a local retailer's terminal, which then froze.

After being asked to wait for an Ontario Lottery and Gaming official to call her at the store, she decided to get her car washed while she waited -- then forgot to go back to the store.

It was only later after she'd returned home and checked her numbers online that she realized she'd won.

Ameri-Haydari says her win means her sister, who'd gone to New Zealand to work, can quit and return home.
