Police are investigating the city's latest shooting, after a man checked himself into a hospital with a gunshot wound on Wednesday evening.

Staff Sgt. Steve Molyneaux told ctvotoronto.ca that the shooting occurred at about 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

The shooting happened near a coffee shop located at 1971 Keele Street, south of Eglinton Avenue.

A man in his mid-20s checked himself into hospital, after he was shot in the hip.

The victim's injuries are considered non-life threatening.

As of 8:30 p.m., police are still investigating the shooting and do not yet have suspect information, Molyneaux said.

Wednesday's shooting happened within 12 Division, which has seen a number of shootings in recent weeks.

On May 22, a five-year-old girl was wounded near the intersection of Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West, after a gunman shot at a group of people gathered on an apartment patio.

The girl was inside her ground-floor apartment when a bullet came through the window and pierced her lung.

Since April 21, four people have been fatally shot in 12 Division:

  • Adrian Johnston, 14, was gunned down near Scarlett Road and Eileen Avenue on May 11
  • Jarvis St. Remy, 18, was killed at a Dundas Street West bus stop, just west of Scarlett Road on May 1
  • Omar Waite, 29, was shot near a TTC bus stop at Jane Street and Eglinton Avenue on April 22 and later died from his injuries
  • Danny Lewis, 19, was mortally wounded in a laneway shooting near Rogers Road and Keele Street on April 21
