York Regional Police are looking for a 24-year-old Toronto man who is wanted in connection with a fatal shooting at a Vaughan café on Friday night.

One man was killed and another seriously injured when a man opened fire in the café at about 6:40 p.m. on Friday. Sarhad Sadiq, 36, of Nobleton was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim, whose name has not been disclosed, remains in hospital, police said.

Police said the shooting occurred at a café on Woodstream Boulevard near Highway 7 and Martin Grove Road.

David Odesho is wanted for first-degree murder and attempted murder. He stands 5-9 and is described as 249 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes and a heavy build.

“This person is considered to be armed and dangerous,” Sgt. Clint Whitney of York Regional Police said.

Police are urging Odesho to seek legal counsel and surrender to law enforcement. “The jig is up,” said Whitney. “You might as well just come in.”

Police are still trying to establish why the victims were at the café on Friday, but they did say they believe the shooting was targeted.

Whitney said it’s too early to speculate whether these shootings are linked to other Vaughan-area shootings that have occurred in recent months.

Officers are also looking for a white 2012 Mazda 3. Witnesses spotted the vehicle leaving the scene of the shooting.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS.

The shooting occurred at a busy time of night and there would have been a number of people in the area, Whitney said.
