Toronto police have laid murder charges in the slaying of a 27-year-old man who was gunned down in 2005.

Imtiaz (Brian) Khan of Vaughan died after being shot in the neck in an apartment building stairwell at 25 Bishop Tutu Blvd., near and Lakeshore Boulevard and Bathurst Street, on Sept. 9, 2005.

Police believe Khan was killed during a drug transaction. He was the city's 53rd homicide victim of the year.

Suspect Jason David Browne, 34, was arrested by officers from the United States Marshals Service earlier this month in Brooklyn, New York.

Toronto police returned Browne to Toronto on Thursday and charged him with first-degree murder. He was scheduled to appear at the Old City Hall courts on Friday.

Police are still looking for another suspect in the slaying. The force's Forensic Identification Unit has altered a photograph of 27-year-old Neon Daneyon Jammott to show what he may look like with an altered appearance.

Jammott is also wanted on charges of first-degree murder. Police do not know where he may be living.
