Occupy Toronto protesters literally took their rally to the streets Saturday afternoon.
A small gathering of about 30 protesters, some singing and dancing, set up a tent on Sherbourne Street south of Dundas Street East before police quickly moved in and ordered it removed.
The protesters were calling for increases to public services and housing programs.
The small rally came just days after protesters from the much larger Occupy Toronto were ordered to move out of St. James Park where they had camped for more than a month as part of the global movement rallying against corporate greed.
The encampment was cleared on Wednesday during a day-long operation by Toronto police and bylaw officers, who packed up and removed property as protesters danced and demonstrated nearby.
The eviction came after Ontario Superior Court Justice David Brown ruled on Nov. 21 in favour of the City of Toronto's efforts to remove protesters from the site.
