Twelve people including children have been injured in a head-on collision in King Township Thursday evening.
Police say that a vehicle travelling east on King Road, west of Bathurst Street, crossed the centre line and collided with a westbound pickup truck at around 6:30 p.m.
The pickup truck then collided with two other eastbound vehicles.
One adult was airlifted to a trauma centre, York police Sgt. Tim Kuttschrutter says. The severity of their injuries was not immediately known.
A child, approximately eight years old, has been transported to hospital in critical condition.
The injuries to the other nine people transported to hospital are believed to be minor, Kuttschrutter says.
King Road west of Bathurst Street is currently closed as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
