Veteran reporter Michelle Dubé will be joining Ken Shaw behind the anchor’s desk, CTV Toronto announced on Monday.
“I am proud and excited to join Ken, and spend time with our viewers each day,” Dubé said.
“My goal is to deliver the news with the same professionalism viewers have come to expect from this newsroom. I also hope we can have some fun along the way.”
Dubé will replace the outgoing Christine Bentley, who stepped down from the anchor desk last week.
She will join Shaw, weather anchor Tom Brown and sports anchor Lance Brown on the news desk.
Bentley first joined the CTV family in 1977 as a general assignment reporter, and was later assigned to city hall, Queen’s Park and the anchor chair.
“I’m delighted for Ken, Lance, Tom, and the rest of the team to be joined by Michelle,” said Bentley. “Michelle is a solid journalist and a fabulous lady. I look forward to watching as she and CTV Toronto viewers get to know each other better.”
Dubé added: “It is an honour and privilege to follow in Christine's footsteps. She has empowered women in the field of journalism and I am very fortunate to have worked with her.”
Dubé first joined the CTV Toronto News team in 2009, appearing on both local and national news programs. She was a frequent fill-in anchor for CTV Toronto, and will continue filing reports while co-helming newscasts at noon and 6 p.m.
