A 55-year-old man has died after being struck by a vehicle on a road southeast of Cambridge, Ont. early Wednesday morning.

At about 6:30 a.m., police responded to a call about a collision on Highway 8 at Kirkwall Road in Flamborough Township.

The man had exited his vehicle on Woodhill Road when he was hit by another vehicle, said Ontario Provincial Police.

OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford said emergency crews transported the man to Hamilton General Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Woodford said the driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

Police have closed Highway 8 in both directions as they investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision.

No charges have been laid.
