Police are investigating after a four-month-old rescue kitten named Einstein was stolen from a Willowdale pet store.

According to Const. David Hopkinson, the kitten was taken from a Pet Valu on Yonge Street near Cummer Avenue on Wednesday night.

Security video that was released by Team Cat Rescue shows a man entering the store moments after a woman. While the woman speaks with a staff member, the man is seen walking over to the cages where the cats are kept and taking one out. The video then appears to show the man tucking the cat underneath his coat before walking away.

The cat was previously found abandoned and had been placed in the store as part of a partnership between Team Cat Rescue and Pet Valu.

So far, police have not provided a description of the suspect.
