A police bomb squad was called in to investigate after a suspicious package was found in the Kennedy subway station Tuesday night.

The package later turned out to be a prank, police said.

While police investigated, the entire station was evacuated and service was shut down for several hours at the busy transit hub.

Police said they received a call from TTC staff at around 7 p.m., saying that a cleaner had found a package on a subway car.

The package has a note on it, saying it was a bomb, police said.

Shuttle buses were used to transport passengers as police investigated.
