Three people have been sent to hospital after a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 400 involving a Nestle ice cream truck and a GO Transit bus.
The chain-reaction accident happened on Friday shortly before 4 p.m. on Highway 400 just south of Langstaff Road.
Eight vehicles -- including a transport truck, a tow truck, an ice cream truck and a GO Transit bus -- were reportedly involved in the crash.
Northbound traffic is backed up on the busy north-south highway to Highway 401.
Emergency crews removed a freezer from the ice cream truck in order to rescue the injured driver.
She was removed from the vehicle through the vending window and taken to York Central Hospital.
Reports from the scene say a number of passengers on the GO Transit bus were treated for minor injuries.
An express bus travelling to New Market, Ont., stopped at the scene to transport nearly 30 GO bus-passengers stranded because of the accident.
All lanes of the highway are open to traffic.
