TORONTO - Hall of Fame-bound Canadian soccer player Nick Dasovic is parting ways with Toronto FC.

Dasovic was serving as the team's North American scout after filling in as interim head coach over the final six weeks of last year's regular season when former coach Predrag Radosavljevic (Preki) was fired.

Before that he was the club's Academy head coach and First Team assistant coach. He joined TFC in 2008.

"Over the course of my time at Toronto FC I was fortunate to work with a lot of great people," Dasovic, 42, said in a statement. "It just became time to move on and that happens. I'd like to thank the management staff and everyone I worked with in Toronto and wish them well for the future."

Dasovic's career will be honoured on May 28 when he is inducted into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame in Toronto. The former midfielder has 63 senior national team appearances from 1992 to 2004.

He also coached Canada's under-23 men's team in its bid to qualify for the Beijing Olympics.

Dasovic is joined in the Hall of Fame's 2011 induction class by fellow former Canadian internationals Lyndon Hooper and Victor Kodelja, and Canadian-born Jimmy Nichol, who went on to win 73 caps for Northern Ireland.

"I want to first congratulate Nick Dasovic on his upcoming induction into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame," said Toronto FC head coach Aron Winter. "I'd also like to thank Nick for all of his contributions to Toronto FC, from his work in the Academy to the first team and most recently as a scout for our club."
