Prime Minister Harper and his finance minister may stand side-by-side on affairs of state but they may sing different tunes when it comes to sports.

Harper is a rabid NHL fan bred on the theme to Hockey Night in Canada, but Jim Flaherty is more likely to sing "Take me out to the Ballgame."

Flaherty and his son, John, have made quite a tradition of going to the big league ballparks to watch the boys of summer.

It started when the younger Flaherty wanted to see Chicago's Fenway Park so he persuaded his dad to take him there to see a Blue Jays game.

Such visits became a tradition, and in subsequent summers, they've made trips to old Yankee Stadium in New York and the Ballpark in Arlington.

This weekend they're in Detroit to watch the Blue Jays take on the Tigers. Toronto won Saturday's game 3-2.
