A bus driver who was filmed running a red light last week in Scarborough is no longer employed by the TTC.
The driver could be seen driving through a red light in a video captured by a dashboard camera.
In the video, which was posted to YouTube, the bus appears to accelerate as the light turns red. At the same time, a pedestrian on the other side of the intersection begins to cross the street, directly into the path of the oncoming bus. The bus swerves into the centre lane to avoid hitting her.
According to the poster, the video was recorded on Monday, July 21, although its timestamp says 2012.
TTC's Head of Communications Brad Ross confirmed that the incident happened on July 21, at approximately 9:15 a.m. at the intersection of Eglinton Avenue East and Ionview Road.
A week later, Ross said that the operator is no longer with the company, adding that the "video evidence was compelling."
