TORONTO - The Coalition of Family Physicians and Specialists of Ontario is warning doctors they may want to look elsewhere to practise medicine.
The group says practising medicine in Ontario is under severe strain due to the government's tight-fisted approach to physician pay.
It's urging Ontario's doctors to "explore options" in more "hospitable" jurisdictions and to "carefully consider" whether they should invest more in equipment or office space leases.
Coalition president Dr. Douglas Mark says nowhere in Canada have physicians been under such "disgraceful" public attack by the provincial government.
He was referring to the governing Liberals' move last week to slash several hundred fees that doctors are paid to help slay a $15-billion deficit.
Premier Dalton McGuinty is expressing confidence that his labour war with Ontario doctors won't chase them away to other provinces.
