The City has introduced a new process that will make it easier for motorists to dispute tickets issued for parking meter and pay-and-display parking violations.

Motorists will now be allowed to request ticket cancellations by fax or email if the ticket meets the cancellation criteria listed in the Parking Ticket Cancellation Guidelines and they provide supporting documentation, such as a valid receipt.

Requests for cancellations can also include tickets for violations relating to broken parking meters, and incorrectly displayed parking passes.

In a written release on their website, the City said the system is "timely and effective and it will allow the City to deal with disputes instead of the provincial courts. This is a service enhancement that will benefit approximately 40,000 ticket holders per year."
