A York region police officer has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a vehicle while conducting a traffic stop near Woodbridge.

The 30-year-old male officer was conducting a traffic stop at the side of the road on Wallace Street near Woodbridge Avenue when he was struck by another vehicle at around 3:30 p.m.

York Regional Police say the officer then used his radio to call for help and was taken to hospital via ground ambulance, where he is currently conscious and breathing.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the officer remained on scene and is now speaking with police.

The nature of the officer’s injuries is not known, though he was transported to hospital CTAS2, which is generally reserved for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
