York Regional Police are looking for at least one suspect after a man was injured in a shooting in Vaughan early Thursday morning while sitting in his car.

Police were called to a crash on Jane Street near Major Mackenzie Drive at about 3:40 a.m. where they discovered a smashed Mercedes-Benz.

Two bullet holes were visible in the driver's side window of the vehicle.

A 38-year-old North York man suffered two gunshot wounds, one to the head and one to the arm, but a detective on scene told CP24 that the injuries were not life-threatening.

It appears that the shooting occurred in a nearby residential neighbourhood in the area of Convoy Crescent, which police had blocked off.

After he was wounded, the man drove off, stopping in a grocery store parking lot where he was met by EMS and transported to hospital.

The victim hit about seven parked cars with his Mercedes after the shooting, police said.

There are no known witnesses, and police said the suspect or suspects fled the scene. Anyone with information is asked to call York Regional Police 4 District at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7400.
