SYDNEY, N.S. - A 27-year-old man who turned himself into police in Cape Breton last week made his first court appearance Tuesday in Toronto on a charge of second degree murder.

Blake Andrew Paul, of Moose Factory, Ont., is charged in connection with the Aug. 29, 2010, beating death of 42-year-old Leo Buswa.

Buswa was found in a home on Clendenan Avenue, just north of Dundas Street West, suffering serious injuries.

He died in hospital a month later.

Toronto police arrived in Cape Breton on Monday to pick Paul up and return him to Toronto.

Paul turned himself over to police March 7 and was being held at the Cape Breton Correctional Centre pending the arrival of police from Toronto.
